More Secure and Easier Online Banking

Fairport Savings Bank is excited to announce a more secure and easier way to protect your online banking activity.  The new security feature is called Adaptive Authentication and will replace the current matrix process.  Many customers felt the matrix system was too cumbersome and we are pleased to be able to offer new technology that will be much easier to use while offering enhanced security.

On Monday, May 19th, 2008, Adaptive Authentication will roll out to all of our online banking users.  Use of the security matrix will be discontinued at this time.  Your current user ID and password will remain in place and will not change.

Adaptive Authentication monitors your online banking activity, using behind the scenes technology, and makes note of how, when and where you access your Fairport Savings Bank internet banking account.  After a period of time – which could be from 2 – 4 weeks after the start date of the program – you will be prompted to select and answer a few “challenge questions” and to enter from 1 to 4 phone numbers that you can be reached at for authentication purposes.   These questions and/or phone numbers will be used in the future to verify your identity when there is a change in your online banking usage characteristics (such as if you sign on from a different location or computer).  Most of the time, however, you won’t even notice that the extra security is at work.

Security and customer service are of utmost importance to Fairport Savings Bank and we will continue to bring you state of the art technology, like Adaptive Authentication, to ensure your protection.

If you have any questions about this process or online banking in general, please contact your local branch office or call (585) 223-9080, ext. 216 or 226.  Thank you.
